Big Brother An American Reality Essay - 2797 Words
ââ¬Å"Before Sept. 11, the idea that Americans would voluntarily agree to live their lives under the gaze of a network of biometric surveillance cameras, peering at them in government buildings, shopping malls, subways and stadiums, would have seemed unthinkable, a dystopian fantasy of a society that had surrendered privacy and anonymityâ⬠(Jeffrey Rosen). Where were you on September 11, 2001? Do you remember the world before this tragic incident? Throughout history, the United States has adopted forms of legislation with the intention of improving national security. From prohibition, to gun laws, the outcomes of these legislations have not always been good. In a post 9/11 era, the American people were devastated by the attacks on the worldâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦It was created as a government agency with more power and jurisdiction to help combat organized crime(A Brief History of the FBI). The FBI was granted special authority to gather information in the name of justic e and security. Later, the creation of the Central Intelligence Agency in 1947 brought on a new form of government surveillance with new technological methods. These agencies have had an extraordinary amount of power and leeway through their history. The FBI and CIA werent legally allowed to do domestic surveillance on American citizens without a court order. To this day, many argue that it is still not legal and unconstitutional to spy on American citizens without their knowledge or a court order. The legality of the Patriot Act and government surveillance needs to be brought into question today. At the time the Patriot Act was created, it was considered unpatriotic to question these new anti-terrorist prevention methods. More than a decade after the tragedy, we need to put things into perspective and look at the Patriot Act more closely than ever. The fast irrational behavior by politicians after 9/11 has cost the country basic freedoms and liberties. Internet Cafe free essay sample
All the hardware or devices need to be connected each other to the Local Area Networking (LAN), to enable them share one internet line to get connected to the Internet. This is a basic idea on how to connect all your hardware to the LAN. Connecting the Computers All PCs have to connect to the switch/hub, which are merge as a LAN. A local area network (LAN) is a group of computers and associated devices that share a common communications line and typically share the resources of a single processor or server within a small geographic area (for example, within an office building). In this article I assume that all PCs have been completely installed with Windows 98 operating system and using static IP Address instead of dynamic IP (DHCP) for each system because CCAutoSoft cyber cafe management software currently only support static IP Address. Installing and Configuring Ethernet Adapter Card In order to enable each PC communicate with each other we have to install the networking protocol. We will write a custom essay sample on Internet Cafe or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Common ones used in a simple network are IPX/SPX and TCP/IP. To install, open Network Neighborhood properties, click ââ¬Å"Addâ⬠button, Select ââ¬Å"Protocolâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Addâ⬠button, scroll down in the manufacturer list and select Microsoft, select IPX/SPX and click ââ¬Å"OKâ⬠. The next one should be the same, but select TCP/IP instead. Once installed, select TCP/IP in the Network Neighborhood Properties window, click ââ¬Å"Propertiesâ⬠button. Insert into TCP/IP Properties: The PCââ¬â¢s IP Address, e. g. 192. 168. 1. 2 -Each PC must have different IP Address e. g. : 192. 168. 1. 2, 192. 168. 1. 3, 192. 168. 1. 4, 192. 168. 1. 5 and so on. Gateway: 192. 168. 1. (modem/router IP Address) DNS: refer to your Internet Provider. In this case I use Malaysian TMNetââ¬â¢s DNS: 202. 188. 0. 133 and 202. 188. 1. 5 Click ââ¬Å"OKâ⬠button, and restart PC. The computer will be ready to get connected once it is restarted. Do the same to other PC. Cabling/Wiring Commonly use cables are co-ax and cat5 with RJ-45 an d BNC connector. Most of new NIC only support RJ-45 connector, so we use Cat5 (also called 10BaseT) cable. Other than RJ-45 connector and Cat5 cable, you also need a crimping tool. Measure the length from the client to the switch, perhaps a little bit longer. Cut the cable and crimp RJ-45 connector at both of the cable end. The next step is the easiest part, put one end of the cable into the clientââ¬â¢s NIC port and the other end at the switch/hubââ¬â¢s port. You have to make another 20 cables if you have 20 units of clients with 1 unit of server. Connect all 20 PCs, PC Server and the modem/router to the hub/switch and connect a phone line to the modem/router. Configure the modem and router setting. There are many broadband modem with built it router out there. The configuration is off course different with each other. But the basic configuration is to set the router as the gateway. You also have to insert your dialing properties in the router, such as your username and password. Most of the modem can be configured through the web browser at any connected clients. For example, if the modem/routerââ¬â¢s IP Address is 192. 168. 1. 1, just type http://192. 168. 1. 1 in the web browser URLââ¬â¢s box on any PC in the LAN. Sharing a Printer Usually, a printer is connected to the server PC, so the internet cafe staff can easily manage printing process whether from clients or by walk in customer. Configure network neighborhood properties of the server to share printer, this will let printer sharing with the LAN. After install the printer driver into the server, make it shared. ââ¬Å"Add printerâ⬠at each client by browsing in the LAN and find shared printer at the server. Connecting A Scanner Scanner needs to be connected to a PC to operate. Connect it to a client if you prefer customers to use the scanner themselves, or connect it to the server if you want the cyber cafe staff to scan for your customers Unlike other types of shop, internet cafe needs one more wiring other than electrical wiring which is network cable wiring. A good planning is needed to suite the location of every device in the internet cafe. Unlike electric wiring which only needs 3 to 6 cables in each electric wire casing to the switches, plug or sockets, network cable is exclusive one cable for each device. This is about Category 5 (Cat5/Cat5e) cable. Cat 5 is required for basic 10/100 functionality, you would want Cat 5e for gigabit (1000BaseT) operation and Cat 6 or higher gives you a measure of future proofing. If you do not want to work hard, there are many contractors who like to offer their services at a fair price and quality workmanship, but doing the job yourself is not as hard as you think. And itââ¬â¢s fun! (at least for me ) There is an old article I wrote about connecting all hardware in internet cafe. I wrote it in 2005, so it may have some outdated information. In this article I will show you how I planned to connect the entire computer to one switch and to the router/modem and finally to the internet as the image below. Network How do we connect a computer to a switch? A computer can be connected to a switch by a network cable. Common network cable used is Cat5. Each end of the cable has a plug, called RJ45 connector or plug. You can make the network cables yourself if you want to cut down the cost of setting up your own internet cafe. It is not so difficult. You only need Cat5 cable, RJ45 connectors, crimping tools and a lot of patience. Of course you must know how to arrange the wires by their colors. RJ45 + Cat5 cable + Crimping Tool = Network Cable And this is the latest ââ¬Ëmyââ¬â¢ internet cafe plan. One end of each cable from 14 computers will run through the ceiling via electrical ââ¬Ëcasing n cappingââ¬â¢. For computers at the center, there is a permanent structure built for electrical and network wiring purpose. The casing is mounted on the structure then all the cables run through the casing to above the ceiling. All rj45 plugs/cables from 14 computers run down from the ceiling through the casing and then are plugged into the switchââ¬â¢s port. The others 6 computers connected to the switch by the cables run through casing mounted at the wall. Other then 20 computers for the clients, devices needed to be connected to the switch are modem with built-in router, computer at the counter, and perhaps a server ( I planned to put an Ubuntu server in the LAN for NAS (network-attach storage), squid cache server, proxy server and might be an intranet web server ââ¬â refer to Part 1). The switch I need is a 24 ports switch because I have 22 computers and 1 modem/router. So have only 1 extra port. Usually, there are 4 ports at the router/modem but one is used to connect to the switch. So overall I have 4 extra ports, which might be useful soon Business plan Computers (high-quality devices complete with monitors, mice and keyboards) Software (Operating systems, productivity software, gaming software) Networking equipment (routers, switches, cabling) Uninterruptable power supply (UPS) units to protect from power surges Furniture I was looking at something like this myself. I think its best to keep both the power consumption and the price nice and low. Despite the ultra low power consumption and low price though, this should play most games on ultra high settings. (At 1366768 at least) Intel Pentium G620 G. SKILL NS 4GB (2 x 2GB) ASRock H61M-VS Sapphire HD 7750 1GB Seagate Barracuda 500GB Fractal Design Core 1000 SeaSonic SS-300ES Bronze 300W Samsung DVD Burner Total $439. 92 The max power draw should be between 100-150W and it should still be great for gaming. That Pentium in particular gives insane gaming performance for the price compared to AMDs offerings. The price/performance on the graphics card is OK but the main reason for it is the ultra low power consumption. Roger Magana Get a 24-port switch or at least one that covers your minimum specification. Now you need to get cables for each PC you want to connect to the switch. so it is like this: Cloud(Internet)gt;Routergt;Switch connected to the number 1 port of routergt;PCs connected into each port of switch. Windows XP you said, you got to make sure they are all in the same network/subnet and have the gateway pointed to the router. Usually the router would be: 192. 168. 1. (check this with your current PC, if any, and go to your command prompt and type ipconfig without quotes and look at the IP address next to gateway to confirm) the switch is usually a passive device (auto-configured) but if you manage to get a hold of a Cisco switch or something, the default-gateway would be the routers IP. As for the PCs, according to my guessed IP of your router: You can either choose DHCP from the router, but if you want to manage easier if anything because its an Internet-cafe, have their IP address configured manually and number them: (PC1 for example)192. 168. 1. 101 (PC2) 192. 68. 1. 102 (PC 10) 192. 168. 1. 110 the subnet, if it is asked in XP, should be the class C one (255. 255. 255. 0) and the gateway should be 192. 168. 1. 1 To configure your PCs go to the start menugt;control panelgt;find network connectionsgt;double click on the interface you are connecting to the Internet withgt;click propertiesgt;on the list click ipv4gt;then propertiesgt;click on the radio button use the following IP addressgt;enter the values in their according fields. To setup LAN network for a cyber cafe, there are certain things to consider such as physical and logical setup. A cyber cafe is a business where you make money by offering Internet access to the public through cyber cafe software. This means, in order to attract more clients, your LAN should be well configured and secured. A well configured LAN should be fast and network cables should be run through cable ducts to make the cyber cafe look neat and avoid tripping or stepping on network cables. Items needed to setup LAN network include network cables, cable ties, cable ducts, RJ-45, crimping tool, cable peeler and an Ethernet cable tester. Basic devices used are Ethernet switch, cabinet, patch panel and router. A router will be used to connect to the Internet and the switch and patch panel will connect the computers. How to Setup LAN Network On A Cyber Cafe of 20 Pcs For the scenario, we will setup LAN network for a cyber cafe of 20 PCs. We will need an Ethernet switch with 24 ports. A good choice would be Cisco or D-link. When buying the Ethernet cables there are two choices: the industry terminated cables also known as plug and play or ready to use, and cables that you terminate yourself. Cable Termination: Means taking a cable and attaching a RJ-45 connector on both ends. This is done using a cable peeler to safely peel the coating and using a crimping tool to attach the RJ-45 connects to the cables. Cables used will be straight through cables. For a cyber cafe, Cat-5e (Category 5) is a good choice. This will give you speeds of 100Mbps in full duplex, but if you want to build a GbE (Gigabit Ethernet), go for Cat6 cables. Testing Ethernet Cables: After you have bought or terminated the cable, the next step is to test and thatââ¬â¢s where the Ethernet cable tester comes in. All you have to do is plug both ends of the cable into the tester and press the test button. If the cable is working or not the tester will indicate. Labeling Network Cables: Now label each cable on both ends with a tag. This helps ease trouble shooting. An example would be using a tag with the following printed on it ââ¬Å"PC-1Port-1â⬠. This means that the cable will connect PC-1 to the patch panel port that links to the switch at port. Connecting to NICs: With the cables in place, connect them to NICs (Network Interface Cards) on your PCs and run them through the cable ducts up to the switch and cover the duct. Do not plug them to the switch yet. The switch, router and patch panel should be fixed inside a cabinet for security. Connect port 1 of the switch to port 1 at the back of the patch panel using patch cables that are bought together with the patch panel. Keep doing this until all 20 ports are connected. Connecting to Patch Panel: After you are through with the switch and patch panel, now connect the cables from the PCs to the RJ-45 ports in front of the patch panel in the order that you created. After this, you are done with the physical installation. Use cable ties to neatly tie cables together near the patch panel. You can tie them in bunches of five. Assigning IPv4 Addresses When you setup LAN network, allocating IP addresses can either be done manually by typing it on each computer or allocate using a DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). DHCP is easier, faster and ideal when you setup LAN network. This can be configured on the router to assign each PC an IP address, subnet mask and gateway automatically. DHCP saves time and avoids typing errors. IP Subnetting: When setting up the IP addressing scheme use a subnet that will allow you to add more PCs or if you later add wireless Internet access to your cyber cafe. If you decide to use the most common, class C (192. 68. 0. 0) use a subnet mask of 255. 255. 255. 224 which allows you up to 31 hosts. So, with a cyber cafe of 20 PCs you can later add 16. VLSM (Variable Length Subnet Masking) avoids wastage of IP addresses. You have successfully setup LAN network and you can contact the ISP (Internet Service Provider) to configure your router for Internet access. Tips: After you setup LAN network secure the network and customers from hackers and viruses using firewalls, antivirus software and monitoring tools. Also, you might want to monitor and share bandwidth equally among your customers. This is because if your connection is not fast enough and a customer if making VoIP calls like Skype, other customers might experience difficulties accessing the Internet. Nowadays, internet cafes are really in demand because of the fast changing technology that the people embraced. Some have their own laptops and bring it to coffee shops so that they could relax and at the same time prepare their assignments and paper works. The people today are very busy and would want to do their jobs in a beautiful and innovative environment that could satisfy their needs and lessen their stress due to busy schedule.

Why College Athletes Should Be Paid Essay Example For Students
Why College Athletes Should Be Paid Essay For some people, sports games are just the activities that they can enjoy watching them. For others, it is a lifestyle. Students can choose any profession for studying. However, some of them are going in for sports. Education costs a lot of money and scholarships are good options for covering those expenses. Other students may envy them. However, not many of them know how it is difficult for to combine studying process and sport. They also write essays, term papers, thesis statements, etc. For now, there are many articles about whether college athletes should be paid and all of them provide their arguments. One of them is that the possibility to earn while playing sports makes young generation focused only on money. Today, the young generation has a lot of different interests and stuff to do. Not all of them can play sports games only for self-improvement and reaching high goals. Everyone is different. Some students need to take care of their brothers and sisters or help parents. To be rewarded for your efforts, it is what everyone wants. It is common knowledge that money can be as a great means for motivation. It helps athletes to practice harder. Every student knows that if you do not lose anything depending on the results of their efforts then it is not so valuable. By knowing that you may lose the possibility to earn some money, helps to encourage yourself and do everything you can to win. It becomes a personal responsibility everyone. We will write a custom essay on Why College Athletes Should Be Paid specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Another argument is that students are too young and do not know how to spend money wisely, so they should not receive them for playing sports. It sounds very persuasive for some people, but there are always pros and cons to such questions. From one side students may buy cigarettes, alcohol or even drugs. However, from another side there much more pluses. Students can spend money on buying healthy food, new sneakers or training equipment, medicine for injuries and other things that can help to improve themselves. The ways of how they are going to spend money depend on their upbringing and surrounding. That is why it is important to teach young generation how to spend earnings properly. As an example, many famous athletes have become famous and rich. Nevertheless, some of them do not know what to do with their wealth and they are starting with large parties, alcohol and then try drugs. The reason is that all of them have received a lot of money too rapidly. Sport students do not need t o receive the millions of dollars, but they must be financially rewarded. Money that is generated on their accounts can be gradually given them out. As a result, they can prioritize their needs and spend earning rationally. For the last point, it is that it may not seem honest, when athletes keep the development of sports industry of the country and do not receive rewards for that. They may not be as famous as professional leagues, but organizers of matches earn a lot of money on marketing, selling tickets, food, t-shirts and other different stuff. As athletes are the vital parts of such events, it is not fair that they do not receive financial reward. Everyone deserves to be paid for their efforts, especially for athletes. They work a lot and make it real to conduct exciting sports events. If not to start to support them financially at least in small ways, there will not be future for college sport. It will just fade away, because of student-athletes shortage. .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066 , .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066 .postImageUrl , .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066 , .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066:hover , .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066:visited , .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066:active { border:0!important; } .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066:active , .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066 .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u2ddec1e06b5966051adfae61418bc066:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: How to Write a Diagnostic Essay

Does alcohol have as much of a focus as drug addiction in UK essays
Does alcohol have as much of a focus as drug addiction in UK essays Alcohol is the most commonly used drug in Britain with only 7 per cent of men and 13 per cent of women describing themselves as non-drinkers (Joseph Rowntree Foundation, 2000: 6). When considered in population terms, alcohol is a more important risk factor for antisocial behaviour than are other drugs because it is more frequently taken in excess (Rutter et al, 1998: 154). Most people consume alcohol socially and moderately; however there are some who drink heavily, with not just adverse physical and psychological effects for themselves. It has been estimated that alcohol misuse contributes to 40% of violent crime, 78% of assaults and 88% of criminal damage cases (Deehan, 1999: 1). Coupled with reports that 28% of all offenders seen by the probation service have alcohol problems compared with 12% with drug problems (Alcohol Concern, 1999: 16), it would seem that alcohol has a larger part to play in crime than the misuse of drugs. However, the Government has invested heavily in drug use prevention - 94 million per year - but has seemingly neglected the issue of alcohol misuse, spending as little as 1 million per year on promoting prevention and treatment (Dean, 2000). Add to this a lack of true alcohol-related crime figures, with only specific drink-driving offences having a recorded statistic; until recent Home Office guidance, an absence of an ade quate definition of an alcohol-related incident (Alcohol Concern, 1999: 14); and the creation of a community order specifically for drug misusing offenders and not alcohol misusers (the Drug Treatment and Testing Order, or DTTO) and it would seem that alcohol has been left to take a back seat in the Governments agenda. To try and ascertain whether alcohol is the forgotten issue in the Criminal Justice System (CJS), this essay will be examining (albeit briefly) the relationship between alcohol ...

Another reason why many governmentsââ¬â¢ support this concept is because it assists firms to build independent entities that will help them address their deficiencies. Most importantly, to ensure the networks accomplish their goals, it is e ssential to establish a network board that will foresee their operations. This board might come in handy in situations where companies that have formed a network are experiencing problems related to insufficient resources (Thorgren, Wincent and Anokhin 131). The network board consists of firmââ¬â¢s representatives, experts in the industry or representatives of different related public agencies. Most importantly, the main responsibility of the network board is to augment network authenticity. Additionally, it heartens, harmonizes and offers support for joint activities among the networked firms. Basing on the roles played by this network board, it is essential that they are compensated so as to motivate them. It is obvious that the administrative structure that governs the operations of this board is different from the normal organization structure. This is because the board foresees the operations of more than one firm and each of them has its own administrative structure. Thus, the process of compensating the network board is far different from that of an organizationââ¬â¢s board. As evident, this board acts as agents that link different organizations. Research has incorporated agency theory with stewardship theory to suggest that unforeseen events shape the affiliation linking networking firms and network board members in a way that can add weight to the effects of board compensation on network performance (Thorgren et al. 132). Analysis In this article, the author portrays the importance of the small businesses coming together and establishing an empire that will sustain them presently and in the future. In order for these businesses to succeed, they must form a board to foresee their operations. Additionally, this board must be compensated as a means of motivating it to perform its duties well.Advertising Looking for article on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Establishment of a strategic network by firms as presented by the author seems to be a practicable fact. However, the administrative structure that links these companies in a way to facilitate the compensation of this board does not seem to be practicable. It is obvious that the board members are derived from the industry. Thus, each stakeholder must compensate its representatives as part of its contribution towards the sustainability of the board. It is essential for the firms concerned to come up with well constructed strategies, which will ensure the costs incurred during compensation process are shared equally. Basing on this fact, it is an appropriate for firms to produce equal number of representatives on the board to ensure equivalent contribution towards their compensation. In as much as the article portrays the importance of compensating the network board members, it does not give the criteria to be employed when administering the compensation. It is a fact that the compensation strategy is a critical issue that needs to be addressed in detail. Some experts reveal that issues arising from the compensation strategy might result to controversies, hence collapse of the strategic networks. In the establishment of these networks, it is essential for its proposers to put in mind the fact that it requires a lot of consultation to link the companies. In the board, it is essential to constitute experts with experience on joint company ventures. This acts as a mitigation measure incase there occurs future disagreements. Application It is noted that, this information is important in business as it depicts ways in which different companies can combine their resources to come up with a solid venture able to outdo its competitors. The information on compensation of the network board is necessary to companies that are already in strategic network as it enlightens them on ways of strengthening their links. Most importantly, this information is essential to the management as it reveals a rough idea of what to expect when they involve their institutions in strategic networks. Additionally, this information is vital to institutions already in involved in strategic network but having problems to do with the compensation and constitution of the network board. Conclusion As evident, stiff competition in the market leads to employment of new strategies to enable firms catch up with the market leaders. Thus, there are companies that opt for the strategic network so as to combine their resources; as a result, it boosts their market share. In any organization, employee motivation is considered essential because it ensures more productivity.Advertising We will write a custom article sample on Compensation of strategic network board specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Thus, for the strategic network board to be motivated it should receive compensation from the network partners. It is appropriate for each company to have a representative on the board so that their interests are well represented. Furthermore, a company will be well represented if the individual has got formal links with the company and understands what goes on in the company. The boardââ¬â¢s success is determined by the mode of treatment and concern it receives from the stakeholder. Thus, its compensation is an important element that will boost their working morale. As evident, the compensation process must be well structured so as to ensure there are no obstacles towards the implementation of the strategic network. Hence, the parties involved must seek the advice and guidance of experts before executing this strategy. Work Cited Thorgren, Sara. Wincent, Joakim. Anokhin, Sergey. Population and the Property in Australia Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words - 1
Population and the Property in Australia - Essay Example The students were presented with a set of propositions expressing different views of the war in Iraq and asked to select the response which best reflected their own views. Over 70% agreed either with the proposition that "Australia should never have been involved in the US-led war in Iraq" or "Australia should no longer be involved in the US-led war in Iraq". This contrasts with surveys of young Australians conducted in early 2004, which showed a much higher level of support for Australian involvement in the war. Sample here is the student community whose views are being collected. The population is depicted as the overall population of Australia. Property is the personal views of Australians regarding the govt involvement in War in Iraq. An argument can be evaluated on the basis of certain factors. First of all, the sample case of students being extended to total population is not totally adequate because of the age factor. Students of a university who are not experienced in international affairs and the government working are presenting their personal views which are themselves based on what their peers think. This age factor cannot be extended on to the overall population as there are middle-aged men and women and the older generations who are more mature and experienced. The research methods used are also not considering the viewpoint of people other than young students. Conclusion about the evaluation is deduced as not justified because the views of people more experienced and strong vie w point is not considered. In causal research, why is it important for test group and control group to be similar? What method of test group/ control group selection is most likely to result in the test group and control group being similar? Why? Explain, using an example, why it is not always appropriate to use that more reliable form of test group/control group selection.
